Northwest Iowa Christian School Tuition Organization (NICSTO)
Iowa taxpayers, who contribute to an STO receive an Iowa tax credit equal to 75% of their contribution. The amount contributed may also qualify as a charitable donation on federal tax returns. STOs receive voluntary cash contributions from Iowa taxpayers and allocate those funds in tuition grants to Iowa school children, who in turn, use those grants to attend one of the schools represented by an STO. At least 90% of the money received by an STO must go back out in tuition assistance/grants.
How does it work?
- You must own Iowa state income tax.
- You must make out a check to NICSTO (Northwest Iowa Christian School Tuition Organization).
- Complete the 2nd page "Contribution Memo" and send it with the check to Sheldon Christian School.
- Grain donation is also an option - see the above flyer with the contribution memo.
- NICSTO will send you a letter of receipt for your Federal Tax information.
- In early January, you will receive a tax credit certificate to attach to your Iowa tax form.
The NICSTO program has been around for years and has been a benefit to both the recipient (school) and the donor (you). This is a great tax benefit to those who will be paying taxes on their income. NO LIMIT on your contribution amount!
